Transforming from a silly woman to a true friend, Donna brings great things to the show.And, of course, the famous literary character (Agatha Christie), the child genius gone unthinkingly wrong (The Sontaran Stratagem), and the stunningly surprising question, "Is the Doctor married." (Silence in the Library). Well, good times are had at my home every time we bring out these DVD's. Donna brings a companion to the series who is clearly an adult, and one who has developed her own sense of integrity, her own judgement of right and wrong that does not bow to the Time Lord but can make the Time Lord bow to her, as in the conclusion of "The Fires of Pompeii". (Well, and Tennant and Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner.). My kids and I have only recently (within the last two years) begun watching the show and it has become the one that we cannot miss. I bought this set at Amazon as we approached the end of David Tennant's tenure as Doctor Who. And series four is my personal favorite, because of Donna Noble. Watching Donna come to an understanding of the dilemma the Doctor faces in making the difficult choices, reaching her own sense of rightness, and taking some of the responsibility onto herself gives her companion more importance than the flirtations with the two previous girls could achieve.
I am currently trying to purchase the video from another seller. I tried contacting the seller but never received a reply. I tried to purchase Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series from valid101 through Amazon.com on January 3, 2010. I never received my video. I finally had to file a claim to be reimbursed for my purchase price.
IF you love Doctor Who, this is a must have for your collection. This happens to be one of my favorite seasons, so of course for me, it was brilliant.
